As a consultant
I guide and support your team.
Consulting is for companies that have the people to implement a strategy but lack the expertise to make a plan that aligns with business goals.
How it works:
I consult with individuals and teams, guiding them through the process of designing and implementing community strategies with meaningful, measurable business impact.
I work with ~1-5 people from your team; we meet regularly (e.g., weekly).
We clearly define your situation, business goals, and KPIs.
We set up mechanisms to capture quantitative and qualitative signals to understand the impact of our work.
We devise a comprehensive strategy with specific tactics to carry it out.
You implement the plan and collect feedback/insights to inform revisions and iterations.
Compared to fractional leadership, consulting is more hands-off
As a fractional leader
I lead your team.
Fractional leadership is for companies that need a part-time/as-needed team member who can lead people, processes, projects, programs, and do hands-on work.
How it works:
I’m “embedded” in your team, leading and managing your Community team, programs, and projects, and representing the work I oversee in internal and community-facing communications.
I effectively operate as a member of your team.
I’m available to your team for X hours per week during our collaboration period (based on our agreement; minimum 3 months).
I join internal meetings and Slack channels (as appropriate) and act as a part-time employee.
As a team, we audit community needs and opportunities, devise a strategy to align with goals, implement the strategy, measure the impact, and iterate.
Compared to consulting, fractional leadership is more hands-on

FAQ

Community strategies can support virtually any area of the business - Product, Marketing, GTM, Support, People, Engineering, etc.
At its core, community is all about relationships - real, meaningful, symbiotic relationships.
So, community strategies focus on establishing and growing businesses through tactics that cultivate mutual benefit for the company and the people who gravitate around it - employees, customers, prospects, partners, investors, friends and family, and more.
